About

I first knew that I wanted to report on health care stories for radio when I was 10 years old, listening to NPR in the back seat of my parents’ car.

I wanted listeners to feel as excited, informed, and empowered about their own health as I felt listening to public radio stories about the world around me. As I grew up, my passion for storytelling spread to include the written word, and to educate fellow medical professionals as well as the general public. Today, I am the host of multiple podcasts, as well as a freelance contributor to public radio and a writer for outlets such as The Washington Post and Katie Couric Media. Explore some of the stories I’ve created.

Dr. Neda Frayha

Podcaster & public radio contributor

I host several podcasts for both physicians and a general audience; contribute to public radio and other outlets; and am the audio editor-in-chief at Hippo Education, a medical education company. Subscribe to Hippo Education Presents: The Monthly Rounds and listen to stories I’ve contributed to NPR and other outlets.

Physician

I have been a practicing primary care internist in both academic and community settings for 15 years. I currently volunteer for a free clinic in Baltimore, providing whole-person primary care for patients who cannot afford commercial insurance yet do not qualify for government assistance.

Medical educator

I spent eight years as an Assistant Dean at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and have also served as an Associate Residency Program Director, working closely with first-year medical students to chief residents and everyone in between. I am now a part-time Assistant Professor at the school, where I host The OSA Insider podcast, which Medscape named one of the best podcasts for medical students.
